Rerenga Refugee Connect

We work with refugee families by helping newcomers to Aotearoa New Zealand use digital technology.

Our aim is to provide both children and parents with the digital tools tools and skills they need to become active learners, access online educational resources, employment, and stay in touch with family and events in their original home country.

The families are from refugee communities in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland; Kirikiriroa, Hamilton; Te Whanganui a Tara, Wellington; , Papaioea, Palmerston North; Whakatū, Nelson; Ōtepoti, Dunedin; and Waihōpai, Invercargill.

We are privileged to work with culturally diverse groups of families. As new Kiwis they bring perspective and wisdom to their communities.

Under a Ministry of Education contract we provide refurbished computers and internet access to around 200 refugee families per year.

Regional training providers are contracted to deliver the training component, employ family liaison and provide technical support to the families. These training providers achieve outstanding results delivering the programme for each family and also the communities who embrace each new family as they make Aotearoa New Zealand their home.
