Bridging the Digital Divide

From July 1, 2025, to December 31, 2025, Katoa Connect delivered a targeted programme to help 40 Northland whānau achieve digital equity. This initiative focused on second chance learners, specifically prioritising Māori, Pasifika, and individuals with NCEA Level 1 or below to improve their digital participation.

We are incredibly grateful to Foundation North for their support, which allows us to deliver this vital programme to our communities and support our whānau in their digital journeys.

Programme Outcomes

  • In Person Learning: Participants completed 20 hours of training in small, collaborative groups of 10.
  • Real-World Skills: The curriculum covered essential daily tasks, including online banking, shopping, managing health services, and foundational Google Cloud skills.
  • Supportive Environment: Our team utilised clear, respectful communication and strong administrative skills to ensure smooth coordination and high quality results.

By immersing learners in practical scenarios, we have empowered them to connect more effectively with whānau and their community.

“It is a privilege to deliver this programme. We recognise that even with a digital connection, many whānau don’t yet feel confident enough to fully explore online spaces. Our goal is to provide the clarity and support they need to navigate the digital world with ease.”
